I love romance novels. My mother still reads them diligently, and I definitely grab one from time to time. I learned a lot – a lot – about sex from these books, people. Forget about locking up your vibrator, you can pass that off as a toy, a massager or a bomb. Lock up your romance novels. I read my first one when I was about 11, I think. My mom didn’t know I had it, and it was racy. I mean, really racy. It also introduced me to the word of bondage, but that’s a whole ‘nother story. In fact, I’m terribly dissapointed because I can’t remember what book it was!
My favorite books to read are based in one of two historical times — either some point in history where there are courtesans, elaborate dresses, dashing men on horseback and possibly a dalliance in the servants quarters, or the old West.
I love me some cowboys.
My absolute favorite stories are the ones where she does not want to love the man – but he makes her. He woos her, he fucks her, she gives in to the pure sexual tension and then they find love – but only after some absolutely ridiculous sex because that is the whole point of these books, girls.
Ok. I need to find a Barnes & Noble and a dark room with a lock. Now.

Yeah, the sex is a great thing. I love a well-written sex scene.

Good to know I’m not the only one who has a thing for cowboys
I have tons of bookshelves, but my “good” books are hidden away in the bedroom, cause of the whole having a teenage boy in the house thing!!!

We are on the same wavelength. I also want to be won. Not saved, but earned.
And I also began reading romance novels at a young age thanks to my mom and her friends. Maybe it’s a rite of passage? I remember a publishing class where 95% of the girls had vivid memories of reading VC Andrews’ books.

I love you. I am totally whispering this because I hardly dare to hope…but I am writing a cowboy romance novel. Sort of. I mean I am. I loved his insight. Especially the “I want to be won” angle. My heroine might be too easy. Lol. Want to read the outline for me and tell me what you think?

My funny story about romance novels: in high school, I had a summer assignment for AP History in which I had to read a “historical novel” and write a report. I picked what I thought was a a perfect book about a pioneer woman in the 1800′s who strikes out on her own. Then about halfway thorough…oh my.
The scripty font on the cover should have clued me in. And the fact that the main male character’s name was “Buck.” He was a cowboy, actually.
I still don’t know how I managed to write that report without using the phrase “silken breasts.”

A girl needs her romances, I say.
I have to keep the more..adventurous ones tucked away safely in our bedroom or they wil certainly learn more than the birds and the bees from some of the romances I read.
I love when people embrace the romance, because holy fucknuts those covers can be horrible.
