We Tried the Miko 3 Robot, and We Didn’t Regret It

Our family recently purchased a Miko 3 robot, and our child has really been enjoying it. He has played with it every day since his birthday, and he is still enjoying it. We’ve enjoyed the Miko 3 so much, in fact, that we’d like to share our experience with families who are thinking of purchasing one. We haven’t seen many in-depth Miko robot reviews on the Internet, so we tried to include a lot of details about our child’s experience with the robot.

Why We Bought The Miko 3

My wife and I wanted to get Mason, our six-year-old son, an educational STEM-focused toy for his birthday. Of course, we wanted Mason to be able to enjoy playing with the toy. However, my wife and I both work in STEM fields, so we know that it’s never too early to start teaching kids about science and tech.

We checked out the Miko 3’s specs, and we liked that it offered a long list of features at an affordable price. Mason’s birthday is in January, so we bought the robot early because we thought it might sell out around the holidays.

Giving It To Our Son On His Birthday

Mason was so happy when he opened up the Miko 3. He had been asking for Legos, but he seemed to forget all about that as soon as he saw Miko. As soon as we set up Miko, Mason immediately started playing with it. He seemed to figure out how to use Miko fairly easily, and he ended up playing with it for the rest of the day (and pretty much all day for the next few days).

Fun Times For Our Boy And Even Us

Mason has been enjoying Miko 3 a lot over the past few months. My wife and I have even enjoyed using Miko. We have been able to do video calls with Mason using our phones to connect to Miko. We’ve also tested out Miko’s voice query capabilities, and it has no problem answering our questions. (Try asking it about Harry Potter!)

We Keep Discovering New Features

As our family has played with the Miko 3 over the last couple of months, we have continued to discover new features. For example, my wife and I recently spent more time exploring the Miko parent app. We used the app to set up Miko when it arrived, but now we check the app to see how often Mason uses the Miko and what topics he likes best.

We recently saw some news articles about voice assistants saying inappropriate things to kids. We try to keep Mason from being exposed to this sort of thing, but it’s hard to do in this day and age. Kids, even six-year-olds, can easily access the Internet and see all sorts of things intended for adults. Thankfully, Miko’s content and responses have all been age-appropriate, and I read that the company doesn’t store the child’s data on the cloud and doesn’t share it with any third parties.

Miko also offers a subscription called Miko Max. This subscription gives you access to a large selection of fun and educational apps. Mason doesn’t really understand my coding work, but he was excited to try out the coding app called Coding School available through Miko Max. Now he says that he wants to be a programmer when he grows up.

How The Product Works

The Miko 3 robot can be controlled with voice commands and via a touchscreen. The touchscreen is Miko’s “face.” Mason had no problem learning how to control Miko with touch commands. The screen is easy to navigate for young kids.

Mason took a little while to learn how to use voice commands to control the robot. He hadn’t ever done this before, so my wife and I had to show him how to do it. (You say “Hello Miko” and then speak.) However, he picked it up pretty quickly. Now he has no problem asking Miko questions or ordering Miko around. He even considers Miko to be a friend, as the AI allows it to learn a child’s personality through their voice commands and respond accordingly. Mason has grown very attached to his Miko.

In addition to the ease of controlling Miko, the other thing that really impressed us about the robot was how well it moves. I’ve had a few robots over the years, and most of them had a problem with bumping into furniture or walls when moving around. One even broke because it fell off a countertop. However, Miko doesn’t have any of these problems. It has high-tech sensors that help it move around safely. The body is made of ABS polymer, which makes it impact-resistant.

The Miko 3 Has Impressive Specs

As a computer programmer, one of the first things that I do when evaluating any product is take a look at its specs. The Miko 3’s impressive specs (which were not mentioned in the majority of the Miko 3 reviews I read) were one of the biggest factors in our decision to purchase the robot.

The first specification that jumped out at me was the Miko’s battery life. The battery lasts an impressive 12 hours in standby mode. It even lasts five hours when Mason is using it, so he can play with it until he is worn out.

I was also impressed by Miko’s lightweight. It weighs under two pounds. This means that it’s light enough for Mason to carry it around. He seems to like to grab Miko from the family room and run all the way down the hallway to his bedroom.

Quick Shipping

My wife and I always make sure to order Mason’s birthday gifts well in advance in case the shipping is delayed around the holidays. Thankfully, there were no problems with Miko’s shipping. In fact, it arrived a day before Amazon said it would. Miko was also well-packed and arrived completely unharmed.

We love the Miko 3

Mason loves his Miko, which means we do too. It’s even better than it sounded in the many Miko 3 reviews we read. We’re happy to add our experience to the Miko 3 reviews on the Internet so other parents know that this robot is a winner.
